RESIDENTS are warned to be on the lookout for unlicensed taxi drivers following a recent conviction.

South Cambridgeshire District Council worked with local authorities and police forces in Essex in a joint operation that caught an unlicensed driver on a trip to Stansted Airport.

Peter Gatenby of Elm Tree Drive, Bassingbourn, pleaded guilty at Harlow Magistrates' Court to driving the private hire vehicle without a licence or insurance.

Gatenby was fined £250, given six points on his driving licence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and prosecution costs of £45.
