A vulnerable elderly woman has been found after a widespread helicopter search.

She was discovered by a taxi driver near St Helens Hospital after he heard the airborne police message on Monday evening (June 23).

The female, in her 60s with a severe medical condition, had been at the hospital with her husband earlier that day.

The helicopter flew over much of St Helens, concentrating in the Parr and Sutton areas. A tannoy from the aircraft called for local residents to look out for the elderly woman.

She has been reunited with her husband and is recovering at home from her ordeal.
