Thirteen Days after formation, A small group of Taxi drivers from North Tyneside met again tonight.

Spokesperson Mr.Ali Breadmore said: “ I am very pleased with the turnout,our numbers have more than doubled in the last two weeks and we have had some great input, all in all a very successful meeting”

This small group of Hack drivers from the North East of England is set to make some big waves in the industry.The Taxi trade as a whole has become an intolerable mess, a mess that has repercussions for everyone involved,be they Hackney Carriage,Private Hire or the travelling public.

“This is not just a North Tyneside problem it’s nationwide” said one of the members at tonights meeting.The numbers of Taxis & Private Hire are increasing at an alarming rate and the only people to profit are the owners of large companies, with 200 or 300 plus cars paying rents of over £100 pounds a week each to those operators, The Local authorities are also rubbing their hands as each plate issue brings in more revenue. Sadly the drivers are the ones sitting out on the streets,burning fuel they can ill afford, waiting for  fares that are few and far between. That’s what this site is all about and not just for the drivers of North Tyneside but nationwide. As I’m sure Taxi Drivers all over Britain are experiencing the same problems. Too Many taxis, Not enough Rank spaces, not enough work, extortionate fuel prices etc.etc.

Our local Taxi & Private Hire enforcement officers have been very helpful and extremely ‘Visible’ over the last two weeks and have come up with some interesting suggestions that may help our trade. I would like to think that they are conscientious and keen to carry out their work to the best of their abilities, Time will tell!!    As Always Comments are welcome, whoever you are.
