Villain in racist attacks on taxi drivers
A VIOLENT villain who is banned from every pub in the Dispatch district has admitted three racist attacks on taxi-drivers in Bulwell. Notorious John McNee (28), formerly of Mulberry Gardens, Bulwell and now of no fixed address, has a history of racially-motivatedviolence.
Last November, he was slapped with an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) that barred him from all but five boozers in Greater Nottingham for five years.
McNee is regarded as one of the most violent men in the county and was given the order after police presented a dossier of 16 offences, including ones involving an air pistol and a knife.
These included a brutal gang-attack on Rastafarian youth worker Derek Senior in the Lord Nelson pub on Bulwell's Crabtree Farm Estate in September 2003.
McNee and three other men set about Mr Senior with pool cues and even ripped one of his dreadlocks out and paraded it around like a trophy.
Mr Senior suffered fractures to his eyes sockets, ribs and skull. McNee was jailed for three years.
Now, at Nottingham Crown Court, McNee has pleaded guilty to three recially-aggravated assaults on the taxi drivers in Saxondale Drive, Bulwell on New Year's Day.
McNee and another man had been travelling in a cab when they began racially abusing the driver, who was then attacked.
The victim called for help and two other drivers arrived at the scene but they were also assaulted and racially abused. One sustained a cut to the head and a knife was recovered at the scene, the court heard.
McNee pleaded guilty to one count of racially-aggravated grievous bodily harm and two counts of racially-aggravated common assault.
He also admitted dangerous driving and driving without insurance of a licence after a crash in a Vauxhall Astra car on Loughborough Road, Nottingham on February 13 this year.
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on June 20.
In 2000, McNee was convicted of wounding after stabbing someone in the back with a meat fork at the Gladstone pub on Nottingham's King Street. The victim was left with a collapsed lung and McNee was jailed for 18 months.
He is the brother of Michael McNee, who was jailed for life last year, along with Colin Gunn and John Russell, also of Bulwell, for conspiring to murder John and Joan Stirland at their seaside bungalow in Trusthorpe, Lincolnshire in August 2004.
