MHK says DoT taxi plan is flawed

Plans to de-regulate the Isle of Man's taxi trade will face fierce opposition from cabbies.

That pledge from South Douglas MHK - and former taxi owner - Bill Malarkey.

Taxi drivers staged a strike in Douglas on Friday night in protest at plans to drop the limit on the number of operators.

They fear their business will be poached by part-time drivers working weekends.

He says de-limiting taxis has proved a disaster elsewhere:
