The accident happened outside Ernesettle shops soon after 4pm yesterday afternoon.

Police said they thought the seven-year-old girl may have run out into the road from between cars parked in Hornchurch Road.

The child was in collision with a blue Ford Mondeo taxi.

The girl was taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital. She was being treated last night for injuries that were not thought to be serious.
