Taxi driver is injured in assault
A taxi driver has been assaulted as he stopped a passenger from running off without paying for his journey.
Two men got into the taxi at Trowbridge and asked to be taken to Frome. When they arrived they asked the driver to stop at a cash machine by Market Place.
Both ran off but the cabbie managed to detain one although he was assaulted.
He was not seriously injured but held on to the offender until police arrived. Officers arrested the man on suspicion of assault.
He was questioned about the incident before being bailed pending further inquiries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident which happened at 0210 BST, on 4 May is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
