Drunk cabbie's license revoked
BOOZY taxi driver collecting passengers while twice the drink-drive limit has had his licence revoked.
Police stopped Jahangir Ahmed on his way to pick up people from a rank on St Mary's Way. Ahmed, 44, of Savoy Street, will have to keep a clean record for at least five years before he can apply to get it back.
He had already been banned from driving for two years after he was convicted of drink-driving.
Council licensing chief Tony Allen said this was an `unusual' case. He said: "The vast majority of the trade guard their reputation for providing a safe haven for passengers."
