Police hunt gunman who robbed cabbie
The search is on for a gunman who threatened a taxi driver with a pistol and made off with his takings.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in the early hours on Sunday.
The taxi driver picked up two men in a silver Citroen C8 from outside Liquid Envy nightclub in Portsmouth just after 4am.
He took them to Thyme Avenue in Whiteley, near Fareham.
One of the men then got out of the taxi while the other moved behind the driver's seat.
The driver turned around to tell the man the cost of the journey when he was confronted with a small, black gun and the man sitting in the back seat demanding the driver's money bag.
The terrified victim handed over the cash and the man got out of the taxi and ran off.
Detective Sergeant Chris Buse said: 'This type of crime is not common but it is a serious incident, and we would like the public's help in identifying those responsible.'
Detectives think the robbers may have left some evidence of their crime behind.
DS Buse added: 'We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen these men in the taxi, either in Portsmouth or in Whiteley.
'We would also ask residents of Whiteley to check their gardens and bins to see if the money bag has been discarded in the area.'
The first man is described as white, in his early 30s with dark hair, about 6ft tall and wearing a blue striped shirt and jeans.
The second man was white, aged about 25, 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.
