Taxi injury witness call
A BARNSLEY woman seriously injured when she got out of moving a taxi has been transferred from the intensive care unit at Barnsley hospital to a general ward.
The 22-year-old suffered serious head injuries in the accident just before 4am on Sunday morning.
As a black Renault Master taxi driving along Newstead Road approached the roundabout outside Athersley Leisure Centre, she opened the side sliding door and got out while it was still moving.
Police are appealing for witnesses. There was one other passenger in the vehicle - a 21-year-old man who is believed to have been sitting in the front of the taxi.
