Calls for a taxi rank
POLICE in Chipping Sodbury are calling for a taxi rank in the town centre.
Officers say stand-by taxis would reduce noise and trouble in the town by quickly taking away late night revellers coming out of the pubs.
A letter has been sent to the parish council seeking a meeting over the proposal.
Insp Mark Hedgcock (CORR) said: "I think taxi ranks on the high street would get rid of people coming out the pub thereby reducing trouble in the area."
At a Chipping Sodbury town council meeting last week councillors briefly discussed the proposal.
Cllr Matthew Allen said: "The ranks could be a solution to the noise disturbance created late at night around the town's centre.
"It think it could benefit both people wanting to get home from the pub and residents living on the High Street."
