Galway taxi drivers are calling for a full time enforcement officer to prevent unlicenced cars operating in the city.

Des O'Dowd, of Big O Taxis, says that a number of illegal taxis with duplicated cab numbers may be operating in Galway and have so far avoided prosecution.

Mr. O'Dowd says that the unlicenced taxis are over charging customers and have little knowledge of the city's streetscape.
