Cabbie needed stitches
A MAN who assaulted a taxi driver appeared at Bradford Crown Court.
Daniel Robinson, 25, of Pump House, Albert Road, Queensbury, admitted assaulting Halifax cabbie, Mohammed Rafiq in July. The driver needed 12 stitches.
Robinson was ordered to pay £1,500 compensation, fined £200 and told to pay £100 costs.
Recorder James Goss QC stressed he was sentencing Robinson for recklessly striking Mr Rafiq.
He said: "The prosecution accepts this was not a deliberate punch."
He said the case against Robinson was a far cry from how it had started out and should be dealt with in financial terms.
