A CABBIE who was fined for racing back to base as a drunken passenger attacked him has had his ticket quashed.

John Anthony, 40, was flashed at 38mph in a 30mph zone. But his fare was kicking a seat and threatening to bite him.

He rang cops and the passenger was warned. But dad-of-three John was later told he'd be prosecuted. The CPS dropped the case last week because it "wasn't in the public interest".

John, of Leyland, Lancs, said: "I'm so glad it's over. It was a frightening situation."
